Tara Zauhar
Registered and Licensed Dietitian / Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics
My journey started when I graduated from the College of Saint Benedict with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dietetics. And to be honest, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to become a dietitian at all, as I had deemed them the “food police” and I certainly didn’t want to tell people what to eat (or not eat) and follow a rigid meal plan. Thankfully, I realized that is not actually what a dietitian does. I then completed my dietetic internship through Saint Louis University and also received my Masters of Science in Medical Dietetics.
I have been passionate about food and nutrition my entire life. As a collegiate athlete, participating in both Cross Country and Track and Field, I experienced first-hand the importance of adequately fueling your body. I am still an avid runner and participate in as many races as I can, with the marathon being my favorite distance to run. My passion with sports and nutrition lead me to become a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD). I help athletes of all sorts work through injuries, injury prevention, and overall health for optimal performance.
My primary experience is working with eating disorders. I have worked in all levels of care from inpatient to outpatient, including a wide variety of ages and all types of diagnoses.
Food is essential for life and it can be so confusing, especially in this day and age. This is where I can help. I value developing trust and rapport with my clients, as food is personal and want them to feel supported as we take a deeper look into what brought you in the first place.
I can help you navigate the nutrition world and look forward to working together.
